# Operator Onboarding

How a machine joins the B3IQ fleet: invite-based onboarding, account inventory, owner binding, and route/runtime readiness.

B3IQ controls what enters the fleet: joining today is invite/manual onboarding,
not a self-serve signup. A new machine enrolls with an onboarding code the B3IQ
team issues; a machine that was pre-onboarded on your behalf is linked to your
account by redeeming a claim code from your dashboard. Once a machine is
onboarded and claimed, there is no separate approval step. It can serve routed
work as soon as it is online and route-ready.

Earning is optional and separate from owner inference. Eligible whole-machine
capacity can be offered to external GPU marketplaces by the hour in Earn mode.
Only rented capacity generates income; demand is not guaranteed. Under Managed
Hosting, the owner receives 85% of gross rental revenue before hosting costs.
Earnings are denominated in USD and settlement follows the agreed terms.

## Node registration

A node that is eligible to serve routed work needs:

**Serving gates**

**Onboarded and claimed**

The machine enrolled with a B3IQ onboarding code and is claimed to an
    account or organization.
  **Dedicated operating mode**

The machine is in its default bare-metal mode. A machine switched to Earn
mode is withdrawn from every B3IQ inference path.
  **Route and runtime evidence**

The machine is online, claimed, connected, and running a matching installed
model allowed by the account key. Owner inference does not require
marketplace promotion flags or an observed benchmark.

## Account inventory and access

Enrollment and claiming bind the machine to an account in the control plane.
The account dashboard and its keys use that ownership boundary. Customers do
not enroll through a blockchain registry, and there is no public serving pool.
Model discovery and requests are scoped to the caller's own machines.

A planned guide or published benchmark does not establish current model
installation or readiness. Inspect the machine's state, discover models with
the intended key and run a small request. Missing observed benchmarks alone
are not an owner-inference access blocker.

## Optional earnings

Earn mode is a separate owner choice about hourly capacity. It removes the
machine from B3IQ inference routes and disables SSH until returned to Bare metal.
Arrange mode changes with our team after running work finishes. Estimates,
accrued revenue and paid funds must be read separately; consult the machine's
hosting arrangement and [earnings guide](/operators/earnings).

Historical capability commitments and public registry experiments are retired
from the customer-facing product. Existing historical records are preserved;
[operating evidence](/protocol/overview) explains the current boundary.
